A festive Centennial Celebration is planned for Tuesday evening, October 3, 2017, to mark the first hundred years of The Garden Club of Wilmington. The multifaceted event will be held at the spectacular Longwood Gardens and will include a cocktail party, specialty hors d’oeuvres, and a presentation by nationally known speaker Bunny Williams.
Building on a tradition of horticultural education, design excellence, and community involvement, members of the Garden Club of Wilmington (GCW) will gather to enjoy the excitement of achieving a centennial as a club and celebrate the friendships and shared interests that make the GCW a dynamic and rewarding organization.
While the GCW is the star of the evening, our featured speaker, Bunny Williams, is the ideal guest to remind us of the challenges and rewards of enriching both individual lives and communities through the creation of inviting gardens and interiors. Widely known for her flair for the telling detail and use of layered treasures and colors, Bunny has applied the principles of design to large gardens and intimate greenscapes as well as to interiors ranging from the restrained to the magnificent, always achieving a sense of welcome. She has worked on projects to benefit historic houses, written widely on gardening and interior design, and developed collections of outdoor furniture, tableware, and furniture for interior spaces. Her informal talk will be inspiring and entertaining, reminding us of the value of good design in everyday life.
The Centennial Celebration: an evening of excitement, education, and fun: a microcosm of the Garden Club of Wilmington’s first one hundred years.
