Membership Committee

The committee considers Membership proposals, as well as nominations for Honorary Members and Advisory Board Members in order to welcome those who best exemplify and promote the Club’s mission and activities. This committee is composed of six Active Members or Associate Members of diverse ages, three of whom shall be elected each year for two-year terms.  All Members of the Membership Committee shall have been Active Members for three years or more, and at least two of the six members shall have been Active or Associate Members for five years or more. Awards Committee

The committee selects and nominates Members for Garden Club of Wilmington awards and GCA awards and medals for outstanding achievement in many different areas related to horticulture, botany, conservation, historic preservation, environmental protection, flower arrangement, landscape design, and literature.   Club and GCA Awards recognize and thank our members for their contributions, and giving these awards is a way of honoring those valued and talented member of our club and our community.  This committee consists of the Chair or Vice Chair of all of the Standing Committees, the President, Vice President and 2nd Vice President.

Members’ Support Committee

This committee, created in 2019, addresses various needs of club members, communicating with members who are unable to attend meetings, arranging transportation when needed and coordinating memorial tributes.

Nominating Committee

This committee is charged with nominating Club officers and new Members of the Membership Committee. The committee consists of three Active Members and/or Associate Members designated in January by the Executive Committee.  The Nominating Committee presents the names of officers and the three candidates for the Membership Committee.  Club Members may send suggestions to the Nominating Committee during the first two weeks of February.  The committee members are appointed annually.
