CULTIVATING RESILIENCE: SOIL HEALTH’S ROLE IN MITIGATING CLIMATE CHANGE

Winter Lecture Series: Our Changing Climate and Your Garden

Have you noticed plants blooming at strange times in your garden or an increase in major weather events? This winter UDBG will host a series of virtual pretensions on the changing climate we are experiencing and what that means for us as gardeners. Topics will include weather patterns in the Delaware region, how soil health affects the climate,  and resilient plant selections for our gardens. Hope you can join us from the comfort of your home, and if you sign up for the whole series (three lectures) we have a discounted registration fee!

Lecture 2: Join us in “Cultivating Resilience: Soil Health’s Role in Mitigating Climate Change” as we delve into the remarkable connection between soil health and our planet’s climate.

This enlightening talk will take you on a journey below the surface, revealing the critical role soil health plays in sequestering carbon, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting climate resilience. We will explore the fascinating world of soil microbiology, the significance of regenerative agriculture, and the ways in which responsible land management practices can help combat the climate crisis. Discover how nurturing the soil beneath our feet can have far-reaching effects on our atmosphere, biodiversity, and the overall health of our planet. Learn about innovative solutions and practical steps we can take to harness the power of healthy soils for a more sustainable future.
