GCW’s Secret Gardens Tour

GCW’s Secret Gardens Tour, Monday, June 8

Hidden off quiet back roads or in Wilmington’s neighborhoods are surprisingly lush green spaces maintained by Garden Club of Wilmington’s Members. These “secret gardens” are a joy to visit, particularly this spring. Indulge your curiosity and garden fantasies with our Secret Gardens Tour on Monday June 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For this one day, at least five Club Members will graciously open the gates of their gardens.  These gardens reflect the hard work and creativity of our Members. The tour includes a range of outdoor spaces; cottage gardens, elegant courtyards and relaxing patios, created by both our dedicated and talented club members and landscape designers, with clever solutions to common issues as space constraints and deep shade.

The tour is self-guided and we ask you to please wear a mask. We want everyone to be safe while enjoying the gardens.  If you arrive at a garden while others are visiting either wait in your car or maintain your distance in the garden if space allows.  Visit the gardens in any order and at your own pace.

There is no need to register in advance, but the gardens will remain a “secret” for just a few more days.  The weekend before the tour just go to the Member Home Page and download a map and descriptions of all of the gardens on the tour.  If the weather is wet, just pull out your slickers and galoshes -  but if severe weather is forecast, check for updates that will be posted on the club”s website.

If you are interested in having your garden on this tour, please contact Mary Patterson or Betsy McCoy before June 5 so your home can be added to the map.
