Mt Cuba: Beyond Echinacea: Native Plants Awaiting our Attention

Main House Lecture Room 1

Instructor:Bill McLaughlin

Fee:$20.00

Designing and creating gardens with native plants is more than a fad, it's a direction that will continue to expand and develop in years to come. Additionally, gardeners will seek new species and forms that will not only add beauty to the landscape and but also increase its critically important ecological value. Based on his observations at the United States Botanic Garden, Bill presents his perspective on new, garden-worthy species and cultivars that await our attention.

Bill McLaughlin is the Curator of Plants for the U.S. Botanic Garden, overseeing the garden's extensive collections. Since 2006, he has developed and refined the Mid-Atlantic native plant collections in the three-acre National Garden, focusing on their scientific, aesthetic, and educational value. Bill continues to enhance the plant collections throughout the Botanic Garden, assists in botanical research, and enjoys sharing his expertise in horticulture with the public.
